A giant playful sculpture designed with local children, De Heilige Meeuw brings new energy to Beverwaard through co-creation, community dialogue, and urban renewal.
In collaboration with TNO, TU Delft, the Municipality of Rotterdam, and the Veldacademie, ObeCity developed a program for healthy neighborhoods, starting with a detailed urban analysis of the existing area.
Through co-creation sessions, local children helped design a giant seagull — De Heilige Meeuw — as a central feature in their neighborhood of Beverwaard. ZWERM led the campaign, organized events, and acted as a bridge between the community and the design.
Through continuous dialogue and co-creation, the neighborhood became actively involved in shaping the project. De Heilige Meeuw was festively unveiled at the end of 2019 during an event initiated and hosted by ZWERM.
